29 CFR 1910.265(c)(4)(iv): Elevated walk(s) and runway(s), 4 feet or more from floor level, were not provided with a standard railing. On 5/27/15, in the production area of the sawmill, employees were exposed to fall hazards as walkways in the facility were not guarded. Instances included: 1  Gang Outfeed Catwalk  Missing lower guardrail  Fall hazard >10 2  Log Infeed Platform  Fall hazard >15 3  Metal Detector Catwalk  No guardrails  9 to lower levels 4  Debark Infeed walkway/platform  Missing top rail, No rails near base of stairs and 1 opening, 25 gap under knuckle boom pedestal 5 - Chip N Saw Infeed Log Deck Platform  10-12 fall  only 1 side is protected with railing 6  Trim Saw  lack of lower guardrail  68 opening  5 ½  to lower levels 7  Stacker Pit  fall hazard of 48 into pit 8  Planer Mill Platform (at end of stacker line)  65 fall to lower levels - no end rails at end of platform and no lower rail on side In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
