29 CFR 1910.184(e)(2)(i): Hooks, rings, oblong links, pear shaped links, welds, or mechanical coupling links or other attachments did not have a rated capacity at least equal to that of the alloy steel chain with which they are used. The employer does not ensure lifting devices fabricated and used at the facility to hoist/move various items are rated with for their lifting capacity, exposing employees to the hazard of falling loads: a) This violation was observed on or about April 17, 2023, on the north end of the building at the plasma table, where an attachment without a known capacity was used to hoist material onto the plasma table. b) This violation was observed on or about April 25, 2023, on the south end of the building at the loading dock, where the overhead crane is hooked to an attachment that does not have a known capacity Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation describing the steps taken to ensure attachments used to lift equipment is tagged/marked indicating its safe lifting capacity.
