Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 013A Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) Warehouse Employees were operating Crown Stockpickers without using the supplied safety belt and lanyard, thereby exposing themselves to a fall hazard in excess of 25 feet. Violation observed on or about 09/27/2002. Abatement notes: Among others, one suitable method for abating this hazardous condition is 1) Train all employees about the hazards of falls associated with improper elevating methods, and the proper application and use of the safety belt and lanyard in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations.
