29 CFR 1910.119(j)(6)(iii): The employer did not assure that maintenance materials, spare parts and equipment were suitable for the process application for which they were used: ALON USA, LP, 200 Refinery Road, Big Spring, TX. The employer does not assure that maintenance materials and equipment are installed properly and consistent with design specifications. This violation was observed on or about April 15, 2009 in the following instance: A pair of pliers was used to hold an 8-inch flow control valve open in the SRU #2. Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking in the workplace to ensure that appropriate checks and inspections are performed to assure that equipment is installed and consistent with design specifications and the manufacturer's instructions.
