29 CFR 1910.134(g)(1)(i)(A): Respirators with tight-fitting facepieces were worn by employees who had facial hair that came between the sealing surface of the facepiece and the face or that interfered with valve function: a. On or about October 7, 2014, paint building, the employer permitted half mask elastomeric respirators to be worn by an employee who had facial hair between the sealing surface of the respirator and the face during spraying of primers and coatings on metal structures for oil/gas drilling operations which exposes employees to airborne chemicals that include but are not limited to isophorone diisocyanate, mineral spirits, and acetone.
