Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 012A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.178(q)(1): Any power-operated industrial truck not in safe operating condition was not taken out of service, and/or repairs were not made by authorized personnel. Forklifts with visible defects are not removed from service until repaired, exposing employees to struck-by hazards. a) This violation was observed on or about April 24, 2023, where a Toyota forklift was observed in service with a cut in the right-rear tire and an inoperative horn. b) This violation was observed on or about April 24, 2023, where a Nissan forklift was observed in service with an inoperative horn. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation describing the steps taken to ensure forklifts with defects are removed from service until the repairs are complete.
