29 CFR 1910.119(j)(4)(ii): Inspections and testing procedures performed on proce ss equipment to maintain its mechanical integrity, did not follow recognized and ge nerally accepted good engineering practices: The employer does not ensure that m echanical integrity inspections and testing procedures performed on process equi pment follow recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices. a) Th is violation was documented on or about November 18, 2010 in the BD Recovery Are a of Lion Copolymer - Baton Rouge, when the employer did not ensure the frequenc y of visual examinations of piping in the BD Recovery Area complied with the int ervals recommended in API RP 570. This exposed Lion Copolymer employees to fire and explosion hazards, and exposed them to the chemical hazards of butadiene, ac rylonitrile, and styrene. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19(d), within 10 calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps it is taking to assure procedures for inspection and testing of piping follows recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices and is properly documented, and corrective actions underta ken to assure the integrity of the piping.
