29 CFR 1910.1053(f)(1): The employer did not use engineering and work practice controls to reduce and maintain employee exposure to respirable crystalline silica to or below the PEL, unless the employer can demonstrate that such controls are not feasible: (a) On or about October 17, 2024 - Abrasive blasting area, an employee was exposed to an airborne concentration of Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS) at 137 micrograms per cubic meter (ug/m3), approximately 2.7 times the 8-hour Time Weighted Average OSHA permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 50 ug/m3. The sampling was performed during one shift on October 24, 2024 for 452 minutes. General methods of abatement include, but are not limited to: 1. Utilization of a wet blasting process.
