Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 011 Hazard: CRUSHING
Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:01/09/13 Location:Interstate 70 West at Mile Marker 23 Condition:An employee stood and worked on a National, 32-ton, mobile crane while it was operating. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to comply with the manufacturer's operator's manual that states on page 2-4, under the subject of Crushing Hazards, "Never allow anyone to stand or work on or near the crane while the crane is in operation. Death or serious injury could result from being crushed by the moving machinery."
