Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 011 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a crushing hazard: (a) Facility, River Road, McKeesport, PA: On or about November 27, 2007, employees were observed operating forklifts without wearing the seat belt. It was also noted that the seat belts on two of the forktrucks were connected behind the seat. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement is to enforce the use of seat belts when operating industrial fork trucks.
