29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a. 2960 Woodbridge Ave., Edison, NJ - Production Area - Lines D, H, P, and HACO machine The employer did not ensure that manufacturing equipment was guarded in a manner to prevent an employee from placing any body part into the equipment between sections of the equipment. Employees engaged in the manufacture of steel building products operated bending machines that were not guarded between the roller sections and the cutting sections of the machine allowing unobstructed access to moving rollers and the cutting blades of the machine. Condition observed on or about March 3, 2022 b. 2960 Woodbridge Ave., Edison, NJ - Production area - Lines T, D, H, E, G, J, and P The employer did not ensure employees and staffing agency employees engaged in the manufacture of steel building products, where uncoiling machines were part of the manufacturing process, were guarded in a manner to prevent inadvertent entry into the hazard area that exposing employees to caught in hazards of rotating parts and amputation hazards of sharp edges of the steel coil feeding into the equipment.
