29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by ingoing nip points, rotating parts, moving parts: a) Line 3 automatic cap machine: Surekap: Model: SK600 Serial Number: GN1582- On or about May 23, 2018, and at times prior to, the employer did not ensure that all running nip points and rotating parts of the machine were guarded. The automatic roller that places caps on bottles was not guarded where employees perform tasks such as, but not limited to, loading caps and walking near and around the equipment. Employees were exposed to caught-in between hazards. b) Line 2 bottle filling machine: Surekap: Model: SK6000-18 Serial Number: NY5973- On or about June 27, 2018, and at times prior to, the employer did not ensure that moving parts of the machine were guarded. The piston of the machine was not guarded where employees have to set up bottles to be filled, exposing them to struck by and caught-in between hazards.
