29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: a) On March 27, 2024 and prior to; employees involved with the electrochemical plating process for hard chrome, zinc, nickel and copper are using and exposed to hazardous chemicals to include but not limited to; chromic acid - CAS#7440-47-3 (Cat 1 respiratory irritation. Cat 1 skin sensitization. Cat 1 serious eye damage/irritation), sulfuric acid - CAS #7664-93-9. ( Cat 1 eye. Cat 1A skin), hydrochloric acid - CAS#7647-01-0 Cat 1 serious eye damage. Cat 1 skin sensitization), and boric acid - CAS# 10043-35-3 ( Cat 2A Eye corrosion/irritation). The preparation of metal parts involves preparing solutions, plating station set-up, dipping, drying, polishing, cutting, grinding, and the storage of hazardous chemicals. Handling and storage of hazardous materials involves segregation, spill containment, and movement of materials. Note* Abatement certification is required for this item.
