29 CFR 1910.335(a)(1): Employees working in areas where there were potential electrical hazards were not provided with, and/or did not use, electrical protective equipment that was appropriate for the specific parts of the body to be protected and for the work to be performed: a. General Aluminum Mfg. Company - Wapakoneta, Ohio: On or about February 18, 2022, the employer did not ensure workers, verifying the absence of electrical energy in a 480-volt electrical distribution cabinet for cast machine #6, were provided with and used electrical protective equipment for the hands. An employee(s) preparing to change glow bars at the machine was exposed to electrical shock and arc flash hazards while performing the electrical verification test. b. General Aluminum Mfg. Company - Wapakoneta, Ohio: On or about March 11, 2022, the employer did not ensure workers, troubleshooting and verifying the absence of electrical energy in a 480-volt electrical distribution cabinet for X-Ray 21, were provided with and used electrical protective equipment for the hands. An employee(s) was exposed to electrical shock and arc flash hazards while testing for voltages. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence, or written records.
