29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch:. The employer does not ensure the peripheral guarding was less than one quarter of an inch. This violation was observed on or about May 31, 2016, in the maintenance shop, a Dayton bench grinder was found with the tongue more than one-quarter on a inch from the wheel periphery, exposing employees to the hazard of being struck by flying debris. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the date of this citation, the employer must submit documentation describing the steps taken to ensure the top guarding is not more than a quarter of an inch above the abrasive wheel.
