29 CFR 1910.219(c)(2)(i): All exposed part(s) of horizontal shafting seven (7) feet or less from floor or working platform were not protected by stationary casing(s) enclosing shafting completely or by trough(s) enclosing sides and top or sides and bottom of shafting: On or about June 14, 2017, in the beamline department at the outside and inside conveyor/rack system the rotating horizontal shafts running along the conveyor/rack system were not guarded. The employer did not ensure that the mechanical rotating shafts were guarded. Employees work and walk near the unguarded rotating shafts when they are hooking up the beams and/or scanning bar codes on the beams. Employees exposed to the hazard of being caught-in the rotating horizontal shafts.
