29 CFR 1910.219(f)(3): Sprocket wheels and chains which were seven 7 feet or less above floors or platforms were not enclosed: a) On or about June 14, 2017, in the beamline department , the conveyor/rack system located inside and outside of the building the employer did not ensure that the sprockets and chains were guarded. Employees are working near the unguarded chains and sprockets when they were hooking up the beams and/or scanning bar codes on the beams. Employees exposed to the hazard of being caught-in the rotating chains and sprockets. b) On or about July 27, 2017, in the beamline department, the drill call Control Automation did not have the sprocket and chain guarded. Employees will operate the machine to drill the beams. Employees exposed to the hazard of being caught-in the rotating chains and sprockets.
