29 CFR 1910.119(j)(4)(ii): Inspection and testing did not follow recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices: Ammonia Machine Room: Employer did not follow recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices for inspection and testing of ammonia refrigeration equipment including, but not limited to: a) Verification of function of the emergency exhaust ventilation system. b) Verification of function of ammonia detection system. c) Tests of functionality of emergency shutdown of ammonia equipment such as compressors, pumps, liquid solenoid valves. d) Tests of functionality of the power failure trouble signal to a monitored location for a power loss to the ammonia detection system. e) Tests of the functionality of emergency ventilation systems alerts to a monitored location upon loss of power or failure. f) Tests of functionality of the safety alarm indicators and safety system software of the computer control system. g) Inspections that verify automatic function of the temperature control ventilation.
