29 CFR 1910.1053(j)(2): The employer did not post signs at all entrances to regulated areas that bear the following legend: DANGER, RESPIRABLE CRYSTALLINE SILICA, MAY CAUSE CANCER, CAUSES DAMAGE TO LUNGS, WEAR RESPIRATORY PROTECTION IN THIS AREA, AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY: a) On or about March 28, 2024, at the facility, where the employer had not posted warning signs at regulated entrances. On April 10, 2024, at the facility, a fabricator employee cutting and grinding stone countertops was exposed to respirable crystalline silica at an 8-hour time-weighted average (TWA) of 77 micrograms per cubic meter, approximately 1.5 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 50 micrograms per cubic meter. Sampling was performed for 288 minutes. Zero exposure was assumed for the remaining 192 minutes.
