Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 009C Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.272(j)(3): Compressed air was used to blow dust from ledges, walls, and other areas in grain handling facilities when machinery presenting an ignition source was not shut down, and/or when all other known potential ignition sources in the area: The employer does not protect employees from compressed air and deflagration hazards. At 10047 Compton Street, Belgrade, Missouri, specifically inside of the Grinding Mill, employees used compressed air to clean themselves off from combustible dust and to clean the elevated surfaces within this mill. There were numerous, energized, unguarded, electrical conductors located throughout the mill powering equipment such as augers, fans, and lighting. This violation was noted on 05/22/19.
