29 CFR 1910.1026(f)(1)(i): Feasible engineering controls and work practices were not instituted to reduce and maintain employee exposures to chromium (VI) at or below the permissible exposure limit: Maintenance Garage - On or about June 22, 2016, employees welding with DURA-WELD Gold and Harris E316L-16 stainless steel rods on stainless steel truck beds and salt spreaders, or in the vicinity of such welding, were exposed to concentrations of chromium (VI) which exceeded the PEL, and feasible engineering and work practice controls had not been instituted - a) An employee was exposed to airborne chromium (VI) at an 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) concentration of 13.4 micrograms per cubic meter, which is 2.67 times the PEL of 5 micrograms per cubic meter. b) An employee was exposed to airborne chromium (VI) at an 8-hour time weighted average (TWA) concentration of 52.8 micrograms per cubic meter, which is 10.56 times the PEL of 5 micrograms per cubic meter.
