Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 009A Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: On or about September 26, 1999, the employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees allowed to work at the top of the skip hoist conveyor shaft, 43 feet above the next lower level, between the skip hoist conveyor winch and the skip hoist track, repairing/unjamming the skip hoist conveyor were exposed to a fall hazard. Among others, a feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to require the use of a personal fall arrest system attached to one of the overhead beams above this area.
