29 CFR 1910.217(b)(13): Control system(s) of mechanical power press(es) were not constructed so that a failure within the system would not prevent the normal stopping action from being applied to the press when required, but would prevent initiation of a successive stroke until the failure is corrected On or about April 18, 2019, the employer did not ensure that mechanical power presses, which relied on the operator(s) to feed or remove parts were equipped with control reliability system. The mechanical power presses include, but are not limited to the following: a. Press #5519: Clearing 45 ton mechanical press located in A bldg.; b. Clearing: 75 ton mechanical press , serial # 54-1096 located in B bldg.; c. Press M#107: Rousselle 25 ton mechanical press, serial # 21163 located in A bldg.; d. Press # 5516: Clearing 45 ton mechanical press located in A bldg.; NOTE: In lieu of a control reliable system, pull backs, restraints, and hand tools can be used to place and/or remove parts.
