29 CFR 1910.1026(c): Employees were exposed to an airborne concentration of chromium (VI) which exceeded 5 micrograms per cubic meter of air, as an 8-hour time-weighted average: a. Rear Yard, Stainless Steel Scrap Burn Area - An employee, conducting the torch burning of stainless steel scrap, was exposed to 8-hour Time Weighted Average (TWA) of 0.019 milligrams per cubic meter of airborne hexavalent chromium during a 436 minutes occupational exposure. The 8-hour TWA employee exposure was 3.8 times respectively the OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 0.005 milligrams per cubic meter. Hexavalent chromium is a potential human lung carcinogen. The violation was noted on March 7, 2019.
