Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 009 Hazard: UNAPEQUIP
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to embolism hazards: (a)Pinneo Feedlot, Ltd. Liability Company at 32295 Highway 34, Brush, CO 80723: On or before 09/19/06, the employer did not ensure that compressed air used for cleaning purposes was reduced down to less than 30 p.s.i. when dead-ended. The employees used the compressed air to clean the loaders by the hay grinder, and to clean trucks. Condition exposed employees to embolism hazards. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Sample Abatement-Certification Letter") Abatement Note: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to use approved nozzles with safety outlets that reduce the p.s.i. to less than 30 p.s.i. when deadended. Reference 1910.242 and associated ANSI standards.
