Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 009 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Breakdown Room - on or about November 11, 2017, an employee operated a shear machine, machine #3A, to cut dog treats, but the point of operation was not guarded to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area. b) Breakdown Room - on or about November 21, 2017, employees operated a meat cutting vertical band saw which was not guarded to protect operators from the unused portion of the blade. c) Production Room - on or about November 21, 2017, an employee was observed operating a meat cutting vertical band saw which was not guarded to protect operators from the unused portions of the blade. Prime Packing Partners, LLC was previously cited for a violation of a similar occupational safety and health standard, 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1044741, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on April 15, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at 1101 Koffel Road, Hatfield, PA 19440.
