Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 009 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(12): Ladders shall have nonconductive siderails if they are used where the employee or the ladder could contact exposed energized electrical equipment, except as provided in 1926.951(c)(1) of this part. Located on the south side of a commercial structure, employees were exposed to 7,200 electrical volts while utilizing an aluminum Werner Model# D1340-2, and Model# D548-2 extension ladder that did not have nonconductive siderails that could make contact with energize lines. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence, or written records.
