Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a crushing hazard while working under a suspended load: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method is to provide employees with an extended reach tool to open the bags without having to get under the suspended load. a. BILL BLADE KITCHEN MEZZANINE PLATFORM - Employees working underneath a suspended 1100-lb load of Ansilex from a monorail were exposed to a crushing hazard while unloading the Ansilex into the hopper.
