29 CFR 1910.253(b)(5)(i): Cylinders, cylinder valves, couplings, regulators, hose, and apparatus shall be kept free from oily or greasy substances. Oxygen cylinders or apparatus shall not be handled with oily hands or gloves. A jet of oxygen must never be permitted to strike an oily surface, greasy clothes, or enter a fuel oil or other storage tank. a. At Elberta Crate & Box Co., located at 606 Dothan Highway, Bainbridge, GA. 39818, on or about November 18, 2021, the employer exposed employees to a explosion hazard when they did not ensure that the oxygen and acetylene hoses were protected from oily surfaces and oily substances.
