Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 008B Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.215(b)(9): The distance between the abrasive wheel periphery(s) and the adjustable tongue or the end of the safety guard peripheral member at the top exceeded one fourth inch: a) Steelmaking maintenance shop: On or about March 4, 2016, and at times prior, workers were exposed to struck-by hazards resulting from a tongue guard adjusted five eights inch from the grinder wheel. b) Electrical shop: On or about March 4, 2016, and at times prior, workers were exposed to struck-by hazards resulting from a missing tongue guard which created an opening greater than one inch between the grinder wheel and the protecting housing. Abatement Note: Employer completed abatement during inspection.
