Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 008A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.157(c)(1): Portable fire extinguishers were not mounted, located and identified so that they were readily accessible without subjecting the employees to injuries. On or about October 8, 2014, and at times prior thereto, the employer did not ensure that portable fire extinguishers were readily available for employee use, exposing employees to the hazards of fire. a. In the Shipping Department on the east wall the portable fire extinguisher was missing and not mounted. b. In the Metal Storage/Charge Area on the column next to the control panels the portable fire extinguisher was missing and not mounted. c. In the Foundry Area on the south wall the portable fire extinguisher was blocked by cardboard drums. d. In the Machine Shop the fire extinguisher located in the small maintenance shop at the south end was blocked by sheets of plywood and a red 55 gallon drum.
