29 CFR 1928.57(a)(6)(v): Lock out electrical power before performing maintenance or service on farmstead equipment. At the time of the inspection, employees are working on machines and equipment that have the potential to expose employees to the unexpected energization or start-up of the machines or equipment, and/or the release of stored energy which could cause serious injury or death. The employees had not locked out the electrical on the 20 stall Carousel prior to maintenance activities. Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation. The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.
