29 CFR 1926.1425(c)(1): The materials being hoisted must be rigged to prevent unintentional displacement. a. Located at the site, there were employees removing a W36 x 194 steel I-beam that was 60 feet, 3 inches long from a bridge with a Bucyrus Erie 60 ton lattice boom crawler crane, model 30b, serial number 134548. The I-beam was rigged with 7/8 inch wire rope slings that were 16 feet long as a two-part bridle from the cranes hook to 12 ton Crosby shackles that were located 6 feet, 4 inches from center on the east side of the I-beam and 18 feet, 8-1/2" from the west side of the I-beam, which caused the I-beam to become displaced when hoisted, thereby exposing the employees to a struck-by hazard.
