29 CFR 1910.265(c)(5)(i): Construction. Stairways shall be constructed in accordance with 29 CFR part 1910, subpart D. In accordance with 29 CFR 1910.25(b)(3): Stairs have uniform riser heights and tread depths between landings and 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(11)(ii): Each flight of stairs having at least 3 treads and at least 4 risers is equipped with stair rail systems and handrails as follows: (see TABLE D-2) (a) On or about July 19, 2023, at an establishment located at 121 Cedar Street, in Tigerton, Wisconsin; outside of the chipper building, the employer did not ensure the riser heights were uniform at the first step of the staircase leading to the platform used by employees to check the level of wood chips in the trailer, exposing employees to trip and fall hazards. (b) On or about October 13, 2023, at an establishment located at 121 Cedar Street, in Tigerton, Wisconsin; outside the Planing/Stacking Building, the stairs leading to trailers did not have a stair rail system and handrail on both side, exposing employees to trip and fall hazards.
