29 CFR 1910.272(j)(3): Compressed air was used to blow dust from ledges, walls, and other areas in grain handling facilities when machinery presenting ignition sources was not shut down, and/or when all other known potential ignition sources in the area were removed or controlled: (a)Throughout the mill- On or about February 7, 2016, and times prior, employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards from combustible dust in that the employer failed to ensure compressed air was not utilized for cleaning walls and floors while machinery such as Hammer mills, drag and screw conveyors, bucket elevators, pellet mills, electric motors, and motor terminal boxes were in operation, This presented potential ignition sources from overheated motors, drive belts, overheated bearings, and electrical sparks.
