29 CFR 1910.334(b)(1): Routine opening and closing of circuits. Load rated switches, circuit breakers, or other devices specifically designed as disconnecting means were not used for the opening, reversing, or closing of circuits under load conditions. Cable connectors not of the load break type, fuses, terminal lugs, and cable splice connections were used for such purposes: A) Yard area, on or about November 30, 2015, the employer by-passed a motor control switch (start/stop switch) on a Titan hydraulic lift and wired the motor so a power cord with male/female connectors allowed the motor to operate, exposing the employee to a struck-by hazard.
