Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 008 Hazard:
29 CFR 1915.113(b)(3): Hooks shall be inspected periodically to see that they have not been bent by overloading. Bent or sprung hooks shall not be used. (a) On or about October 23, 2015, in the sheet metal fabrication shop, the employer did not inspect the 1 ton Shaw Box Lift Tech crane for overloading. The lack of an inspection resulted in a sprung latch not being taken out of service. Employees were exposed to crushed by hazards.
