29 CFR 1910.219(c)(4)(i): Unguarded projecting shaft end(s) did not present a smooth edge and end and projected more than one half the diameter of the shaft. On or about 5/27/15, in the sawmill production area, the employer did not ensure shaft ends on equipment and conveyors projected less than one half the diameter of the shaft. Instances included: 1 Resaw Work Area inside covered area - Fast Moving Conveyor Equipment 5 x 2 opening 2 2nd instance in Resaw area 2 x2 opening 3 Planer Mill Outfeed side (on other side of wall) 2 x2 opening 4 - Outfeed side of Trim Saw In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET).
