29 CFR 1910.134(h)(2)(i): Respirators were not stored to protect them from damage, contamination, dust, sunlight, extreme temperatures, excessive moisture, and damaging chemicals or were not packed or stored to prevent deformation of the facepiece and exhalation valve: Phillips Global, main building, northwest, spraying area and blasting area: On or about 20 July 2022, the employer required employees to wear half-face respirators for painting operations and a respirator helmet assembly with supplied air for blast cleaning operations. An employee took a personally procured Gerson 9250 Silicone face piece size medium out of his toolbox covered in dust, paint, debris and the Gerson G01 organic vapor cartridge filters had a layer of visible paint and dust. Additionally, on 20 July 2022 and 29 September, a Bullard 88VX Series Respirator Helmet Assembly w/supplied air for blasting operations was being stored in the blasting area and another being stored in a dusty room also covered in dust. Neither piece of equipment had a proper storage mechanism or designated area to ensure protection.
