29 CFR 1910.219(e)(3)(i): Vertical or inclined belts were not enclosed by guards conforming to the requirements specified at 29 CFR 1910.219(m) and (o): (a) Wardwell 16-Carrier Braiding Machines 1 through 34 - The belts running between the motor pulleys, with bottom height ranging from 13.5 inches to 23 inches above the floor, and head pulleys, ranging from 42.5 to 48 inches above the floor, at the right side of each Wardwell 16-carrier braider, did not have complete guarding in that the existing guards did not cover the belts on the inner sides nor over the head pulleys' periphery near the clutch lever on each machine. In addition, on machines 11, 12, 14, 15, 29, 33, and 34, the existing guards did not cover the belts over the periphery of the motor nor head pulleys, exposing employees to caught-in and entanglement hazards, on or about April 14, 2022. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and state employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
