29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) On or about 4/17/2018, VAR Area: The pistons on air compressor #1 were not guarded. Employees exposed to moving parts. b) On or about 4/17/2018, VB3 area: The rotating head on the VB3 system had handles that protruded from the frame. Employees were exposed to being struck and caught by the handles. c) On or about 4/18/2018, In the Bar Mill: Employees were exposed to a rotating ring support with damaged edges, along with pinch point hazards at supports. d) On or about 4/18/2018, In the Bar Mill: Feed rollers on the BT-5 were not guarded. e) On or about 4/18/2018, In the Bar Mill: The access to the Spiral Grinder was not adequately controlled. Abatement certification is required for this item.
