29 CFR 1926.1153(d)(1): The employer did not ensure that employees were not exposed to an airborne concentration of respirable crystalline silica in excess of 50 micrograms/m3, calculated as an 8-hour TWA: a) Power Concrete Co., Inc./Orphan bridge deck on Port Reading Avenue between ProLogis Way and West Avenue in Woodbridge Township, NJ- The employer failed to ensure that no employee is exposed to an airborne concentration of respirable crystalline silica in excess of Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) which is 50 micrograms/m3. Employees engaged in bridge repairs and using jackhammers and handheld power saws to cut concrete structure were exposed to 168 micrograms per cubic meter as the 8-hour TWA, which is three times the PEL. Condition observed on or about December 15, 2017.
