29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(A): Unless specifically permitted otherwise in paragraph (g)(1)(ii) of this section, flexible cords and cables may not be used as a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure; 101 North Main Street, Newark, Illinois, west building shop, southwest wall welding area, electrical box (i.e. pull and junction box): on or about May 4, 2017, two flexible cords were connected in series to each other from a branch circuit receptacle to power pull junction box intended for fixed wiring. Employees using connected appliances were exposed to fire and electric shock hazards because flexible cords were used in lieu of fixed wiring to the box. There is no abatement certification or documentation required for this item.
