29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer shall assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE): On January 25, 2023, at a facility located at 502 E. Linden Street in Abbotsford, WI; the employer did not determine if hazards were present or likely to be present when employees in the Smokehouse area conducted spray application of caustic sanitizing foam (KC-635 HF sanitizer and disinfectant) prior to removal of racks from ovens. The employer's Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for the smokehouse did not evaluate the splash or spray hazards to the eyes/face associated with the use of the caustic foam.
