29 CFR 1910.36(g)(1): The ceiling of an exit route must be at least seven feet six inches (2.3 m) high. Any projection from the ceiling must not reach a point less than six feet eight inches (2.0 m) from the floor: (a) Mixing Department (Floor 3): On or about February 23, 2022 and times prior, the exit route leading to the exit door and enclosed stairway between Lines 22 and 21 (North side of stairwell) did not maintain a vertical clearance of at least 6 feet 8 inches as horizontal screw conveyors installed across the path to the exit door were approximately 5 feet 8 inches from the floor. In addition, diagonal structural supports for equipment in the same area descended into the path to the exit door below 6 feet 8 inches (to the floor). (b) Mixing Department (Floor 3): On or about February 23, 2022 and times prior, the exit route leading to the exit door and enclosed stairway between Lines 20 and 19 did not maintain a vertical clearance of at least 6 feet 8 inches as the fixed industrial stairs providing access to the mezzanine level above measured as low as approximately 6 feet 1 inch when passing beneath.
