Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 007A Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): Portable ladders were used for access to an upper landing surface and the ladder side rails did not extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladder was used to gain access. On or about 15 April 2017, and at times prior thereto, two workers used a Werner Fiberglass Six-Foot Stepladder for trench egress without the ladder being extended at least 3 feet above the trench grade, in the closed position, and a concrete wall behind the ladder, exposing the workers to a fall hazard of approximately 4 feet 6 inches.
