Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 007A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.332(b)(1): Employees were not trained in and familiar with the safety-related work practices required by 1910.331 through 1910.335 that pertained to their respective job assignments: (a) Throughout the facility - Employees who are potentially exposed to hazardous electrical energy through testing and servicing electrical circuits were not trained and familiar with safety-related work practices. On or about March 3, 2017, an employee was tasked with disconnecting the electrical circuit and removing the fuses from the electrical circuit for a large air compressor. This task was completed without a procedure for conducting such work, an understanding of the need to use electrical test equipment to verify the circuits were deenergized, as well as the necessary protective equipment and insulated fuse pullers needed to safely conduct the task. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
