North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to risk of fire or explosion in that: a)buffing area- the area surrounding the dust collectors was not posted with a sign that indicated that the dust collector can contain explosible dust. Abatement Note: One feasible abatement method is to post a sign on each dust collector with the following language: "Caution: This dust collector can contain explosible dust" (Reference: NFPA 484 Standard for Combustible Metals, Metal Powders, and Metal Dusts, 2002 Edition, Chapter 4, Section 4.3.2.5.3; NFPA 651 Standard for the Machining and Finishing Aluminum and the Production and Handling of Aluminum Powders, 1998 Edition, Chapter 4, Section 4-2.4.2.)
