Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: On 10/16/03, a multi-piece rim wheel separated during inflation causing a fatal injury. Abatement Method: Among other methods, one feasible means of abatement is to provide employees with an air line assembly consisting of a clip-on chuck, an in-line valve with a pressure gauge or a presettable regulator and a sufficient length of hose between the clip-on chuck and the in-line valve to allow the employees to stand outside the trajectory, as well as provide employees with training in the hazards involved in inflating multi-piece rim wheel tires and the way to use the above-mentioned equipment while standing outside the trajectory.
