29 CFR 1910.242(b): Compressed air used for cleaning. Compressed air shall not be used for cleaning purposes except where reduced to less than 30 p.s.i. and then only with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment. a)On or about 8/22/2018 an employer did not properly reduce the PSI for the compressed air utilized by employees for the cleaning of themselves or equipment exposing employees to hazards associated with compressed air measured at greater than 30 PSI: Test location #1 was in the middle of the facility in building #1, the readings were reading between 60 and 80 PSI, the gauge connected to the hose was reading approx. 70 PSI. Test location #2 was located in Building #2, the readings were between 70 and 120 PSI, The gauge connected to the hose was reading 80 PSI.
